The Faille Peplum Suit by Zac Posen

Another fantastic suit that I covet for this spring is The Faille Peplum Suit by Zac Posen which continues to support the trend of a modern spin on 30's and 40's silhouettes, a timeless look that is almost always on point for professional style.

Bergdorfs is spot on when it writes that with Zac Posen, you never have to choose between figure flattery and avant-garde silhouettes. This precisely engineered Zac Posen suit sculpts covetable curves.

This fantastic suit would be great as separates as well.  Pair the skirt with a navy blue button down for a more casual office look and the the jacket with some tight slacks on for a chic weekend look.

I have yet to try this on, but I think this suit would best fit a taller person, 5'6 and up, depends on where the skirt hits on the more petite (if you are petite, the most flattering skirt length is just above the knee.  I have mostly all of my suits and dresses tailored to hit mid to just above the knee cap as I'm 5'2).

If you love this suit, check out more from Zac Posen

Imoni - a winter investment MUST!

I've been stalking theses Imoni gloves that are exclusively at Intermix ever since I tried them on.

Perfect fit (choose from a small or medium), cashmere lined and fur lined for a killer cuff, for a warm arm or a chic mid-way red carpet look.

I didn't have the budget for these at their retail of $295 but at 50% these were a gift (I almost bought both colors) !

These Imoni gloves are a must buy and since they are exclusive for Intermix, once sold out they are gone!  I looked for a less expensive alternative, and personally there is nothing that even comes close.  I'm over the moon these gloves are mine and if you invest in these beautiful hand warmer you'll probably be too.

Douglas Hannant will seamlessly take you from winter 2011 to spring 2012

The key to my clothes is the balance of sexy and chic.

If there is ever a trunk show to addend, it's that of Douglas Hannant.

To quote New York Magazine, ..."impeccably tailored, versatile pieces in luxurious fabrics and furs that easily go from the office to La Grenouille to the charity dinner." could not be more spot on!

Generally I try to add upon (with some color) the blacks and the grays that seem to pepper the work week but this Fall 2011 Hannant had me wanting nothing but.  Fur and leather is difficult to wear to the office; controversial, who knows who you may offend, opulent, etc. but if it's what you love, wear it with confidence as this is the time.  Fur and leather are all over the runways this fall/winter  and personally it's my favorite part of winter dressing.  Hannant has looks that if you can't afford (though his timeless pieces are well worth the steep price tag) you can try to replicate.

This is a fur look you can wear all day in the office or the court room.  Look at this blazer.  Stunning!
The belted look works on some, but this blazer is perfect with or without belt.
*lose the gloves once in the office, those are only for the outside.
Also, note the past the knee Betty Paige style skirt ...
for a similar look check out the Jodhpur skirt by All Saints.
I tried this on at Bloomingdales and this skirt is amazing!  Your steps are limited but fine for work and killer on your lower half.  A steal for its now on sale price of $66.

One I haven't tried, but because of the flexible slit or no slit up the back seems perfect is this Whistles Sally Pencil Skirt    available at http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/

I also love the fur on the bottom look.  Again, stunning and you can add fur trim to the skirt of any of your favorite suits.  I'd stick with a textured suit like Hannant.  Also if your tailor can do the snap removable fur you'll save hundreds in dry cleaning as you can snap it off and won't have to stick to a fur friendly dry cleaner.  Gosh, this is a knock out.  Also check ebay for vintage looks like this.  I've been lucky there so far.

This is a fab coat, for the right occasion.  This is pushing the envelope entering the office ... but is where I'm hoping style can be, and may be, depending on where you work.

Now a leather blazer is tough to wear in the office and in my opinion, a no-no for the court room.  I tell my clients to take off their coat before approaching the judge, and often their coat is a leather jacket.  This Hannant may be the only exception to that rule, and is great for the after office scene.  I'd use this as a jacket, rather than a blazer for now though.  Kills me, because I'd love to hold a board meeting in this exact suit.

Finally, a vegan look this winter.  You can use this look belting a thin tight jacket or by belting a blouse, try a vintage blouse.

Hannant continues these styles for his 2012 resort and spring collections making for a perfect transition.  Pair a fall/winter look with one of the dresses below for seamless in between seasons couture; yet another reason to love Hannant!

Hannant also does bridal, not there yet, but if this was all white I might have to buy it in anticipation.  Look at the detail in the skirt!

Finally Spring 2012 ... pair the top with the fur skirt, or the skirt with the fur or leather jacket to transition into this perfect spring suit and dress (below)

This is my first post, more to come.  I look forward to feedback, questions, anything.  My hope is to inspire and keep appropriate style in the workplace.
